Safety
Who can see what
Safety pages usually read like a reassurance exercise. This one is a table. For each thing you might do, here is what the other person sees and what is kept — and after the table, four things that are true and unflattering.
During a video call
They seeYour live camera and microphone. Nothing else — no email, no phone number, no account history, because you never gave us any.
KeptThe call itself is not recorded.
During a text call
They seeOnly what you type. No camera is switched on at any point.
KeptChat messages do have a history, the way messages do in any messaging app.
You cover the camera mid-call
They seeA covered picture. Be precise about this one: the button covers the image, it does not stop your camera capturing. If you want no camera running at all, start in voice or text mode.
KeptUnchanged.
You skip
They seeThe call ends. They are not told why, and they have no way to follow you or call you back.
KeptNothing new.
You block someone
They seeNothing is announced to them.
KeptThey will not be matched to you again.
You report someone
They seeNothing is shown to them at the moment you report.
KeptYour description and any evidence you attach go to a human moderation team that works around the clock.
Where report and block actually live
1
Skip first, deal with it second
You never have to stay in a conversation to handle it properly. Leave, then do the rest with no one watching you do it.
2
Open their profile page
Both controls live there. There is no report button on the call screen itself — if you have been looking for one there, that is why you could not find it.
3
Report, block, or both
Report opens a separate page where you describe what happened and attach evidence. Block acts immediately from the profile page.
Four things we are not going to pretend
- Nobody can stop the other person recording their own screen. That is true here and true of every video call ever made, on any platform, at any price. What you control is what is behind you and what you choose to say.
- You can mute your own microphone from the call screen. There is no control for muting the other person — skip is the answer there, and it is faster anyway.
- We cannot vet a stranger before you meet one. No random chat platform can, and any that claims to is describing a filter, not a background check. What moderation does is deal with people after they show you who they are, which is exactly why reporting matters.
- We are not going to tell you this is 100% safe, because that sentence is never true of talking to strangers. It is a reasonable thing to do with reasonable habits, and the habits are on this page.
